Thinking about Con-Ed for 2011-2012?

Have you considered taking French conversation in order to be better equipped to build bridges with Francophones in your ministry context? The General Council has set aside funds for just this purpose. Here is what one participant said about the Learning French for Ministry Programme: “My teacher was the greatest. ... One of the key items we worked on together were the liturgies I would be using, most specifically for the wedding I was to conduct entirely in French last Saturday!” – Rev. Wendy Evans, United Eaton Valley Pastoral Charge. To find out more visit:

Pre-Retirement Seminars 2011

We at Bay of Quinte Conference have recently been attempting to set up a Pre-Retirement Seminar for our members.  After some leg work this week we have discovered that the format for the 2011 pre-retirement seminars has changed, and that they are now offering regularly scheduled conference calls and online information to all members, in the hopes of being able to share this information with members on a more timely basis, and giving those in rural or remote locations the opportunity to participate as well.  The following .pdf document gives you all the information on when these calls will be taking place, the format for the calls, how members can participate, etc.

Pre-Retirement Seminar 2011 Pre-Retirement Seminar

Behold! We Are Many, We Are One: An Intercultural Conference is The United Church of Canada's 3rd major conference on intercultural ministries. It is already shaping up to be a very full and enriching time! The cost is $175 per person for the conference, which will include dynamic keynote speakers, practical and interactive workshops, intercultural worship,
and opportunities for connection. In addition, there is a Youth Day program, a Children's Program, opportunities for degree credit, pre-event options, and much more! Full details about the conference are available at:
www.united-church.ca/getinvolved/events/behold-2011.

Racial Justice Training
The United Church of Canada has committed itself to being a racially just community and has created and adopted an anti-racism policy statement in 2000.  The four goals of the church’s policy are: participate fully, organize for diversity, act justly, and speak to the world.  Workshops are being offered periodically through The United Church of Canada; all ministry personnel are expected to attend one of the workshops, but workshops are open to all who wish to attend.
