Tim is currently involved in a major project on the topic of Ministry Sabbaticals within our United Church of Canada. The focus of his presentation to us will be  Sabbatical(s). Tim Scorer is a master of experiential spiritual formation. Tim brings his passion for transformational faith and his practical experience with community organizations, congregations, and retreatants. He is author of Experiencing the Heart of Christianity (for groups) and co-author of Living the Heart of Christianity (for individuals), and the editor of the free e-newsletter, Christian Books INSIGHT, which connects people of the emerging Christian Way. Tim was a long-time member of the management team at Naramata Centre, a retreat education centre of The United Church of Canada.

Racial Justice Training (note 4 different dates)
The United Church of Canada has committed itself to being a racially just community and has created and adopted an anti-racism policy statement in 2000.  The four goals of the church’s policy are: participate fully, organize for diversity, act justly, and speak to the world.  Workshops are being planned for the winter/spring of 2010; all ministry personnel are expected to attend one of the workshops, but workshops are open to all who wish to
attend. 

Regional Workshops are happening  in the Spring and Fall.

Oshawa/Cobourg/Belleville will be at Trinity United Church, Cobourg on April 22, 2010.
Kingston/Renfrew will be at Smiths Falls, Trinity on May 11, 2010.
Peterborough/Lindsay will be at Westdale United Church in Peterborough, September 29, 2010 and:

The theme for the national gathering of racial/ethnic minority women and Aboriginal women is “Eve, Mary, White Feather and US…”. There is a dynamic program designed, with opportunities for worship, conversations, learning, networking, storytelling, and much more.

The early registration fee for Sounding the Bamboo 2010 is $225 per person, including accommodations and meals. We encourage you to apply to your Conference office for financial assistance in helping defer the costs for attending the event. Intercultural and Diverse Communities in Ministry have grants for the individual who needs support. Early registration deadline is March 31, 2010.

"Models of Mediation and Conflict Resolution Skills for the Human Services,

This workshop is provided by the Mediation Centre of Southeastern Ontario, The principal object of this Workshop is to reach out to Clergy and Church Congregational Communities.

Those who are conscious of a need to address matters of conflict in their congregational and other related settings, are invited to attend this two-day (in total) Workshop. MCSO has developed a program that provides:- an introduction to the literature and research on Conflict; developmental, imteractive instructional and training sessions on Conflict Resolution and Communication Skills; and a half-day session devoted to real-time issues that present themselves within congregational communities.

Godly Play Introductory Workshop

Godly Play is a creative and imaginative approach to faith formation that has its roots int he work of Maria Montessori. Godly Play recognizes that children already know and experience God but may not have the language or opportunity to talk about and explore their experiences, thoughts, questions, and feelings. The workshop leader is Amy Crawford who has been using Godly Play for 13 years.
Participants will: experience Godly Play stories and questions; learn about the values inherent in Godly Play; discover how Godly Play is used with children; have the opportunity to work with the sotyr materials and practise storytelling
